Club Galas - We nornally host two themed club galas each year.   These are arranged in two parts with Gala 1 for swimmers and Gala 2 for non-swimmers.   Each swimmner is encouraged to try and beat the time they swan in the first gala when they swim in the second.  Swimmers can then take part in Regional and National competitions hosted by affiliated organisations, such as Special Olympics and NASCH.

Social Activities - We hold a Christmas Party each year where each member receives a present from Father Christmas.  The Annual General Meeting, followed by the Presentation of Awards and disco takes place in February.

In recent years we have also held a Halloween Party:

Halloween Party 1   Halloween Party 2

Holidays and Trips

A trip to Knowsley Safari Park is scheduled for 8th July 2017.   A weekend adventure holiday at the Calvert Trust will take place between 13th and 15th October 2017.

Previous club trips and holidays have included:

Moor Park swimming pool has recently been refurbished to a high standard. There is a large, 25 metre, main pool and a smaller learner pool. A spectators' area offers a view of both pools for parents and carers and some snacks and drinks are available from the vending machines there.

There is a large car park to the rear of the swimming pool and leisure centre. As you enter the atrium from either the front or rear door you will see the reception desk, past the reception a small ramp takes you to the swimming pool and changing area. Access to the changing area is through a set of double doors to the left, spectators turn right going through another set of double doors into the spectators area.

The first set of changing cubicles contain 6 double cubicles and 4 single cubicles. Parallel to those are 14 single changing cubicles and directly in front of them a further 8 double cubicles.

There are 2 changing rooms which are fully fitted with changing beds and hoists reserved specifically for wheelchair users. By the poolside, two hoists enable access to the water for disabled swimmers - one of these is a "dipper" hoist for use with a sling.

Blackpool Polar Bears would not be able to run without the constant support from:

    • Blackpool Council, by applying a discount for the hiring the swimming pool and supplying 4 qualified swimming teachers.
    • Additional support and funding in the past year has come from:
    • Big Lottery Fund Big Lottery Fund     Glasdon UK LtdGlasdon UK The Sandcastle Water Park Sandcastle
    • Morrisons FoundationMorrisons Foundation  URENCO  URENCO  Sport England  sport england
  • We have also received numerous anonymous donations as well as raffle prizes from individuals and local businesses

We would like to give a big thank you to all the committee members and helpers who give up their time to support the club. Without these people, the club would not be a success

If you would like to get involved or become volunteer, please contact us, or see a member of the Executive Committee.
