Blackpool Polar Bears is a multi-disability swimming and recreation group for the local community, welcoming individuals with physical or learning disabilities. We embrace families, carers, and other agencies, providing recreational, leisure, and social integration opportunities. Our club is holds its swimming sessions at Moor Park Swimming Pool, Bristol Avenue, Blackpool, FY2 0JG.
We operate an open-door policy, encouraging disabled people and their families to access facilities they might not usually use. We have built strong relationships with local respite centres, schools, and mainstream swimming clubs for those who wish to develop their abilities further. We have created pathways that connect educational curriculums with community activities through these partnerships.
Our club offers both learner and competitive swimming lessons, allowing disabled members, their families, and carers to participate together.
Our Vision
Our vision is for every individual with a disability to participate in a "learn to swim" programme, strive for sporting excellence through competition, and be supported in making swimming and related social activities a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Our Goals
- To provide a safe, reliable, enjoyable, and affordable swimming experience for all members.
- To increase opportunities for disabled individuals to learn to swim, compete, and incorporate swimming into their daily lives.
